INDNAPOLIS, IN (WTVB) – That trip down I-69 into Indiana could cost more then just the gas to get to your destination. The Hoosier State is making history as the first state to approve tolls on all interstates.
Governor Mike Braun signed a bill into law last week allowing the move on any interstate highway without additional legislative approval.
State Representative Jim Pressel of Rolling Prairie who introduced the bill says it will boost revenue to fund road construction and maintenance across the state.
Currently the only toll road is I-80/90 that runs across the northern part of the state.
No word on when the tolls will be implemented.
This is ridiculous. I will take every back rode I can.
Approving tolls on all Indiana interstates is absolutely ridiculous. What is the deal with Mike Braun!! He is ruining this state. Gas prices, property taxes, increased cost for groceries is not enough? Of course Mike is filthy rich. He doesn’t give a damn about the people he is supposed to be representing. Get rid of him!! Hopefully, people will start leaving Indiana and pursue other places to live.

I moved from Ohio, where I was born, raised and lived here since I was 61. I left Ohio and I can leave Indiana without a second thought or any hesitation!!!!
For me I drive the southern part of I-69 for the convenience however I will start driving in the back roads again if they start charging to drive on it. It’s just not worth it.

So what happened to the other means of funding road work? What happens when there are more EV’s on the road? When will they start to make the side roads pay to drive? Sounds like a very shortsighted bill without any real thought as what the actual reality will be. I thought our legislators were supposed to have common sense. Sounds like we need to change our representatives at the first opportunity.

This is ridiculous. We already pay gasoline tax which is supposed to go towards road repair. Now you want to turn our roads into toll roads??? I hope your plan includes removing the state gasoline tax. We are getting taxed for everything. What’s next? A tax on breathing???

Putting up solar farms over agriculture. Without the people’s approval. Constantly raising property taxes, utilities, and gas. New taxes to fix roads? Don’t we have an already steep wheel tax? Here’s an idea, legalize cannabis. More than enough taxes to pay for crappy road construction on roads that don’t need it.
When that happens, I’ll be burning up the backroads! The state gets enough of my income and to want to charge me to drive on a highway that’s already been paid for? Not gonna happen Miley Braun!!!
