COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will hear a proposal tonight to sell approximately 20 acres of land on North Willowbrook Road for a multi-family residential development.
The offer comes from Trotline, LLC, managed by Coach Road Capital, LLC of Spring Lake, MI, with a proposed purchase price of $17,000 per acre, totaling around $340,000.
The land in Coldwater Township was acquired by the City in 2009 as part of a 65-acre purchase for $525,000.
The plans includes a dense 210-unit apartment complex, similar to the Summit Apartments on North Willowbrook Road, which is nearing completion. The proposed project would also feature 400 parking spots and is seen as a response to the growing need for housing in the area.

City Attorney Amanda O’Boyle says the sale is contingent on several conditions, including the satisfaction of utility and drainage easements within 360 days and a conditional land use transfer agreement with Coldwater Township .
The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities is scheduled to review the proposal July 28, following a recommendation meeting July 2.
