COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A sales agreement for a proposed multi-family apartment complex at 421 North Willowbrook Road cleared another hurdle on Wednesday night.
The Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors approved the agreement that the City of Coldwater has entered into with Trotline, LLC of Spring Lake which is managed by Coach Road Capital.
Trotline is looking to buy about 20 acres of city-owned land. They have made a $340,000 offer priced at $17,000 an acre.
Coach Road was the developer of the Apartments at Sauk Trail north of the Home Depot as well as the Summit Apartments on North Willowbrook Road.
The land in Coldwater Township was acquired by the City in 2009.
The plans includes 210 units, similar to the nearby Summit Apartments, which is nearing completion.
The proposed project is seen as a response to the growing need for housing in the area.
City Attorney Amanda O’Boyle says the sale is contingent on several conditions, including the satisfaction of utility and drainage easements within 360 days and a conditional land use transfer agreement with Coldwater Township.
Following its introduction the City Council on June 23, the sales agreement is currently tabled for 30 days of public review.
The Council’s final action on the agreement is scheduled for July 28, 2025.
