COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Under a timeline for putting together Branch County’s 2026 budget, the Branch County Board of Commissioners would take final action on the proposed spending plan on November 25.
In the past, the county budget was formally adopted by the Commissioners during their final formal meeting of the year in December but County Administrator Frank Walsh wants to change the process.
The timeline calls for Walsh and Deputy County Administrator/Finance Director Jessica Miller to hold meetings with department heads and elected officials between August 11 and 19.
The proposed budget will first be presented to Commissioners during their work session on October 9.
It will be reviewed two weeks later on October 23 with proposed special fund budgets, staffing and appropriations being presented at that meeting.
The required budget hearing will be conducted during the Commissioners meeting on November 12.
