JACKSON COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police are investigating a pair of fatal accidents in Jackson County from over the weekend.
MSP says one occurred in Liberty Twp, where Troopers were dispatched to an unknown crash on Thorne Rd.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver, a 49-year-old man from Horton, was traveling south on Thorne Rd, when the vehicle crossed the center line leaving the roadway to the left and hitting a tree head on.
The driver was transported by Jackson County Ambulance to Henry Ford Hospital
where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The other happened in Grass Lake township, Troopers were dispatched to Clear Lake Rd. to assist medical personnel. Preliminary investigation shows a vehicle occupied by six individuals was driving from a private residence to a storage unit facility on Clear Lake Rd.
The driver, a 21-year-old from Grass Lake sped up causing a 22-year-old male from Chelsea to fall from the tailgate of the truck.
Jackson County Ambulance transported the 22-year-old passenger to Henry Ford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Both of those accidents remains under investigation.
