BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council approved a construction manager contract with D.J. Construction Company Monday night for the Bronson City Hall and Police Department Project.
D.J. Construction has offices in Kalamazoo and Goshen, Indiana. Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman said they were one of four firms to respond to their Request for Proposals.
Bids were opened May 14 and Mersman said D.J. Construction proposed a fee of five percent of the total project cost along with a pre-construction and schematic design fee of $5,000. He added they have gotten positive reviews.
The Bronson City Council approved an architecture contract with Martin and Riley of Fort Wayne in March for the project.
The city wants to move its offices from the current location at 141 South Matteson Street to the Police Department building at 120 West Chicago which is twice the size as City Hall. While backers feel more room is needed for city offices, those opposed feel it’s a waste of taxpayer dollars.
