COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The process of searching for a new Executive Director of Coldwater Main Street and the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance has gotten underway.
Previous Director Audrey Tappenden stepped down last Friday after accepting a position with the City of Grand Rapids. Her resignation was formally accepted by the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors on Wednesday morning.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker told the D.D.A. Board he has had meetings with Board President Michael Caywood and Board member Courtney Dirschell to help get the job description prepared.
Baker said the position will be advertised but he did not give a date as to when it will be posted.
In the meantime, Baker and Branch County Economic Growth Alliance Economic Development Coordinator Erin Veysey, will be performing Tappenden’s duties on an interim basis.
Tappenden became the Growth Alliance’s Executive Director on July 1, 2023 when Lisa Miller retired. This was in addition to her duties as Main Street Director.
In other business during a brief meeting, the D.D.A. Board approved a $700 quote from Firehouse Clean Power Washing of Coldwater to have the west wall at the Branch County Children’s Museum power washed and prepped for the installation of a mural.
The mural installation is set to begin on August 11 and finish on or around August 22, 2025.
