HILLSDALE, ME (WTVB) – Hillsdale Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Jeremiah J. Hodshire received the American Hospital Association (AHA) Grassroots Champion Award from the Michigan Health and Hospital Association (MHA). This award recognizes effective advocacy efforts for the healthcare industry.
The AHA and MHA partner annually to recognize hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials at the state and federal level on how major issues affect the hospital’s vital role in the community. Recipients of the “Grassroots Champion Award” have broadened the base of community support for their hospital and are relentless advocates for hospital patients.
Over the past year, Hodshire has led many healthcare advocacy initiatives, including urging lawmakers to protect the 340B program, which is critical to making pharmaceuticals affordable for healthcare providers and accessible to communities.
Hillsdale Hospital launched a campaign in early 2025 to spread awareness of the importance of Medicaid programs for rural communities, encouraging their audience to take action and providing regular resources for education.
This campaign was initiated in response to the introduction of the One Big Beautiful Bill, which has since been signed into law, but that has not prevented the hospital from continuing to educate the community on the impact the legislation will have on rural healthcare and communities.
