COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners were told by Administrator Frank Walsh during their work session on Friday morning that the Courtroom Renovation project is presently under budget.
The Commissioners brought forward a bid of just over $20,100 for Probate Courtroom chairs from DBI, which is an office furniture store in Lansing. Formal action on the bid is expected during the Commissioners regular meeting on August 12.
Walsh says the purchase of the chairs will finish the redo of the Probate Courtroom. Delivery is expected in late August and the court is expected to be available after Labor Day.
Once work is finished in Probate Court, then the renovations in the District and Circuit Courtrooms will start.
Walsh reported that if the Probate Court chair bid is approved, the overall expenses for furnishings and IT enhancement in the three courtrooms will be at $380,000. Barring any surprises, Walsh expects the project will be about $100,000 under the $530,000 budget once the chairs for the District and Circuit Courtrooms are purchased.
