COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police are using a fatal accident last week in Cass County involving a pick-up truck and a tractor to remind motorist to be on alert for slow moving vehicles especially farm equipment as we move closer to harvest season.
That Cass County accident claimed the life of a 73-year- old man from Cassopolis when his tractor was rear ended by the pick-up truck. The pick-up driver and a passenger sustained minor injuries.
5th District Public Information Officer Lieutenant DuWayne Robinson says, “Michigan drivers should expect slow moving farm vehicles on the roads this time of year. He says the first thing you can do is obey the speed limit and allow yourself time to react to slow moving tractors, he also says to keep your hand on the wheel and eyes on the road to avoid distractions.”
Last week’s fatal accident is believed to have been caused by distractive driving but does remain under investigation.
