COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Community Changers Committee of Altrusa International of Branch County is proud to introduce its newest service initiative: the Bright Futures Backpack Program.
Created to support Branch County students in grades K-5 throughout the school year, this program provides brand-new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies to children in need, whenever that need arises.
Working closely with area schools, the Community Changers Committee will prepare and distribute backpacks on a rolling basis. Whether a student is new to the district, experiencing hardship, or simply needs a fresh start, Bright
Futures ensures they have the tools necessary to succeed.
More than just pencils and paper, this initiative is about restoring confidence, encouraging classroom focus, and setting students up for success—academically and emotionally. The Bright Futures Backpack Program reflects Altrusa’s commitment to strengthening communities through leadership, partnership, and service.
This is part of Altrusa’s broader community initiatives, which include book
drives, reading programs, community outreach programs such as Happy Feet, Teen Share, the Story Walk at Water Works Park, and the newly added Literacy Statute located in the Four Corners Park.
