COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – 35-year old Amber Finley of Bronson has been sentenced to three to 20 years in prison after entering a guilty plea on drug charges stemming from her arrest in January.
Finley pled guilty to possession of less than 50 grams of cocaine and hydrocodone, during her sentencing Finley admitted to Judge Bill O’Grady she was using drugs at the time and made some bad decisions. Since Finley had no prior criminal record the judge agreed to a request from defense attorney Nathan Taylor to allow Finley to be screened for the Department of Corrections “Boot Camp” program which could allow for an early release upon completion.
Prosecutor Zach Stempien says investigators tried to tie Finley’s boyfriend to the crime but couldn’t due to a lack of evidence against him.
Finley who was in possession of prepackaged bags of ready to sell cocaine and over 200 hydrocodone pills along with $10,000 in cash at the time of her arrest, did hold a Michigan Day Care license but never did operate a facility.
In addition to the drug charges she was also sentenced to 5 months in jail on a guilty plea to 4th degree child abuse, that sentence will run concurrent.
