BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – All four of Branch County’s girls volleyball teams saw action on the second weekend of the 2025 season.
Chelsea Invitational
Coldwater went 2-2 on the day at the Chelsea Invitational and improved to 4-3 on the season:
- Coldwater def. Stevensville Lakeshore 25-16, 25-18
- Milan def. Coldwater 25-21, 25-19
- Coldwater def. Manchester 25-14, 25-17
- Milford def. Coldwater 23-25, 25-19, 15-12
On the day, Mya Porter led the way with 30 kills and 39 digs to go with 4 service aces. Adyson Qualls had 19 kills, 20 digs, and 6 service aces, while Marie Powers had 17 kills and Aubrey Gebbink added 14 kills. Brooklyn Closson dished out 67 assists and had 24 digs, 6 kills, and 4 service aces. Maren DeBeau collected 34 digs and served up 6 service aces..
The Cardinals will compete at the Portage Central Mini-Invitational on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in their season debut at Chelsea, Bronson went 1-2-1:
- Bronson def. Lenawee Christian 25-22, 25-12
- Parma Western def. Bronson 25-14, 25-15
- Bronson tied Grass Lake 19-25, 26-24
- Milford def. Bronson 25-23, 25-16
The Vikings will travel to the Mount Morris Invitational on Friday.
Carrie Adams Memorial Invitational
Quincy and Union City were at Harper Creek for the St. Philip-Carrie Adams Memorial Invitational.
Quincy went 2-1 on the day, beating Garden City 2-0, losing to St. Philip 2-0, and defeating Climax-Scotts 27-25, 25-18. The Orioles improved to 3-2 on the season and will be at a tri match hosted by Jonesville on Tuesday.
Union City made their season debut on Saturday and went 0-3:
- Hillsdale Academy def. Union City 25-15, 25-16
- Jonesville def. Union City 25-23, 25-22
- Climax-Scotts def. Union City 25-12, 25-11
The Chargers will host Athens, Calhoun Christian, and Homer for a quad match on Thursday.
