COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s not a large amount of money but the City of Coldwater is eligible to get between $4,000 and $6,000 over 15 years after the State of Michigan entered into a national opioid settlement with Purdue Pharma and its owners.
The Coldwater City Council gave City Attorney Amanda O’Boyle permission on Monday night to take part in the settlement and execute the necessary documents.
She said the total national settlement is valued at $7-point-4 billion with the State of Michigan eligible to receive up to $154 million dollars over 15 years.
The amount of money Coldwater gets will depend on how many eligible communities opt in.
