COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team was shutout by Edwardsburg 3-0 in a non-conference match at home Wednesday.
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 2-4, while Edwardsburg improved to 4-1.
Franky Ramos made six saves in the first half, which saw Coldwater down by a 1-0 count. Jensley Norvilus made five saves in the second half, as Edwardsburg outshot the Cardinals 20-5 for the game.
Coldwater is now off until Tuesday when they travel to Niles.
The junior varsity team fell behind 2-0 before rallying for an 8-2 win over Edwardsburg. Ali Ahmed had three goals, with two for Muthana Hajaji, and one each for Johan Aburto, Tareq Alhagagi, and Hazim Ahmed.
The JV team is now 6-0.
In other varsity soccer action, despite trailing only 2-1 at the half, Bronson lost on the road at Niles 9-1 Wednesday to fall to 0-2 on the season. Brier Green scored the lone goal for the Vikings half way through the first half on a rebound deflected by the goalie.
And Quincy fell to 0-3-1 after they dropped an 8-0 decision at Pennfield. The Orioles will host the Vikings next Wednesday in the Big 8 opener.
