COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- A new 2026 state budget was finally passed out of the Michigan State House on Tuesday.
State Representative Jennifer Wortz from Quincy, says the $78 billion budget passed by a vote of 59-45, it was nearly down party lines with only one democrat voting in favor. Wortz says they were able to accomplish their main goals in the budget as well as make a substantial cuts.
Now the budget heads to the democrat controlled senate and and Wortz is optimistic they will be able to find some middle ground.
She says the goal is to ultimately when all is said and done to keep the budget under $80 million.
