COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 2nd Annual Branch County Half Marathon and 5K are set to take place on Sunday.
The event is the brainchild of John Towers and Nisha Ritchie, who at first organized the Branch County Running Club, that then evolved into a non profit that supports area youth sports organizations.
Ritchie says the first Branch County Marathon exceeded their expectations.
She says this year has already drawn pre race registrations from as far away as California.
The half marathon is scheduled to start at 8 Sunday morning at Heritage Park and Towers describes the route runners will be on.
Towers says proceeds from the race are used to support Branch County youth sports organizations in the form of grants.
Events on Sunday also include a kids 50 yard dash and the 5K run that will start at about 8:15.
Coldwater police are reminding motorist you may encounter road closures and temporary delays along the race course Sunday morning.
Those wishing to register the day of the race can do so beginning a 6:30 a.m. at Heritage Park, the 5K is $35 and the half marathon is $70.
