SPRINGPORT, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater, Quincy, and Union City were among 14 schools participating in the Springport Invitational Wednesday afternoon. The field was broken up into two divisions, with the Cardinals in Division 1 and the Orioles and Chargers in Division 2, and the Branch County contingent did well in cloudy, misty conditions.
Division 1
Coldwater won both Division 1 races. The boys finished with 33 points, eleven ahead of second-place Hillsdale, while the girls had 43 points, just eight more than Hillsdale.
The Cardinal boys had five runners place in the top 40 overall to earn medals: Luke Aerts was second in D1, while Drew Vanderpuyl was fifth, Sebastian Hernandez sixth, Aiden Parker ninth, and Lucas Newberry eleventh.

It was a similar story for the Lady Cards, as Gwen Eby placed second in D2 and third overall, Ellerie Bucklin was fourth, Miyah Moore eleventh, Morgan Baker twelfth, and Olivia Golematis fourteenth. All five also earned medals for finishing in the top 40 overall.

Division 2
Quincy won the Division 2 boys race with 70 points, 17 more than runner-up Manchester. Union City was fourth with 95 points, just one back of Concord.
For the Orioles, Hunter Walker led the way with his seventh-place finish. Right behind him were Carter Feltner in eighth and Chayse Jensen in ninth. Nathan Dunn finished 21st, and Coy Wood was 25th. The Chargers were paced by Cullen Decker’s sixth place finish, while Noah June was twelfth, Luke McKown sixteenth, Brady Anthony 30th, and Jack Dibert 31st.
In the Division 2 girls race, Union City finished second with 45 points, 13 back of first-place Concord. Quincy was sixth with 134 points.
The Chargers’ Allison Gautsche won the race with her time of 20:51.83. Teammate Parker Williams was fifth, Elizabeth Arlt tenth, Carly Smith thirteenth, and McKenzie Hawks sixteenth. Quincy was led by Kendyl Musielewicz’s eighth-place finish, with Cali Richards nineteenth and Elizabeth Craig 26th.
Coldwater and Union City will run at the Centreville Invitational on Saturday, while Quincy will join Bronson at the Lakeview Invitational.
