HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – We are learning more about a police standoff in Hillsdale Counties Cambria Township Tuesday night.
Michigan State Police say it wasn’t the first time that day officers had interaction with the subject. Earlier Tuesday police responded when the man called 911, saying there were a number of people in his yard on North Sand Dunes Drive.
Deputies from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department spoke with the man, but found no one on his property. They say the individual was cooperative and cordial at that time.
Around two hours later a 911 call reported the man was shooting guns into the air.
When deputies responded back to the home, the man refused to exit the house. The Michigan State Police Emergency Response Team was dispatched to the scene around 10 p.m. After several hours police were finally able to talk the unidentified man in to surrendering peacefully.
He was then taken to Hillsdale Hospital for a mental health evaluation and will have pending charges once he is cleared and released back into police custody.
