RICHLAND, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals scored early and often in their 35-8 non-conference victory Friday at Gull Lake. How dominant was it? In the first 14½ minutes:
- Dracyn Foster threw a 3-yard TD pass to Bennett McDonald
- Foster connected with Evan Lewis for a 48-yard score
- Foster ran in a 1-yard QB keeper for a score
- Foster found a wide open Dayton Ennis for a 24-yard score
Coldwater led 28-0 at halftime and invoked the running clock early in the third quarter on a 1-yard Michael Wright TD run. The Blue Devils finally cracked the scoreboard with 4:35 left, as Zac Pfennig threw a 4-yard TD pass to Bryson Archie.
Foster finished 10/14 for 154 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions while adding 5 carries for 31 yards and a rushing score. McDonald had 4 catches for 55 yards, Lewis had 2 catches for 60 yards, and Ennis had 2 catches for 14 yards. Royale Flemming had 10 carries for 80 yards along with 2 receptions for 25 yards. Kayden Roby led the defense with 4 tackles, while Jackson Reilly had three tackles and a sack.
The Cardinals will take their 2-0 record into next Friday’s Interstate 8 opener against defending league champion Harper Creek.
