COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- Our late summer rollercoaster ride in temperature swings will continue this week.
Monday morning we reached a low temperature of 39 degrees which missed tying the all time record of 36 degrees on todays date in 1986.
The National Weather Service says afternoon temperatures will swing back to more seasonable summer like highs in the low to mid 80’s by the end of the work week into the weekend, but that will come with very few rain chances in the next 7-10 days.
Branch County is already listed as abnormally dry by the National Drought Monitor, and forecasters are predicting full blown drought conditions for the southern half of the county by this weekend. We finished the month of August more then 4 inches below normal rainfall and although we are only eight days into September we are about a .05 inch short on rainfall so far this month.
