COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A nearly ten month Michigan State Police investigation into criminal sexual conduct accusations against a Sturgis man dating back twenty years has led to charges in Branch County.
According to court records 49-year-old Ricardo Contreras Arroyo was arrested last Friday by Michigan State Police Detectives and charges with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) 1st Degree with a persons under 13-years of age, and two counts of CSC 2nd Degree with with persons under 13-years of age.
The investigation began in December of 2024 when the now adult victims contacted MSP to report they had been molested by Arroyo at a home Bronson for a time span of 4-6 years dating back to as far 2005. They told investigators Arroyo was living in the home at the time of the alleged incidents and they would occur when their mother was either not home or sleeping.
Arroyo was arraigned in Branch County District Court before Judge Brent Weigle and entered a not guilty plea to all charges.
Arroyo had his bond set at $250,000 and ordered not to have contact with the victims.
Arroyo will be back in court for a Probable Cause hearing on September 18th and a Preliminary Exam on September 24th.
