COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Economic Development Coordinator Erin Veysey had more information for the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors Wednesday morning on two new businesses that will be opening soon in the downtown area.
She first mentioned the new businesses will be opening during last month’s D.D.A. meeting but did not have further information.
According to Veysey, a Hispanic ice cream shop with sweets and coffee is planning to operate out the former Northwoods building at 34 West Chicago. The building was previously occupied by Just Win Liquidation until this past June.
Meanwhile, the owners of El Taco Loco will operate a Hispanic grocery store at 9 South Monroe which will be attached to their restaurant.
In addition, Board Member Courtney Dirschell said the Birdies and Brews indoor golf business at 47 West Chicago has been sold, but will be opening as normal for the season, and will be run by the current owners until the liquor license transfers to the new owners.
Veysey added the sale price for the former Edward Jones office location at 48 West Chicago has dropped again. It is now listed at $149,500. The building, which was constructed in 1884, has been on the market since early May after the Edward Jones office moved to a new location on South Division.
Twelve other downtown properties were listed in her report as being available for sale while rentals are available at 28 West Chicago and 89 West Chicago.
Veysey also reported that two original fireplaces were discovered during the renovation project of the two story building at 22 West Pearl. The developer intends to salvage the fireplaces and use them in the remodeling. It’s hoped the building will be ready in the spring of 2026.
Meanwhile, Cedar’s Lebanese Grille will soon open in the former Shawarma Station at 64 East Chicago. The building has been painted and new updates have been made. Veysey says the new owners operate the Crooked Lake Grill and the Crooked Lake Steakhouse in Angola.
