STOCKBRIDGE, MI (WTVB) – Stockbridge clinched the inaugural Big 8 boys soccer championship as they defeated the visiting Bronson Vikings 2-1 Monday night.
Bronson trailed 1-0 at halftime, but got on the board early in the second half on a Stockbridge own goal. The Panthers got the game-winning score with 13:54 left.
Brycen Fincham and Ethan Granados split time in goal for Bronson; Fincham had seven saves, while Granados had two.
With the loss, the Vikings wrapped up the regular season with a record of 5-11-1 overall, 3-2-1 in the Big 8. The conference champion Panthers are now 5-1 in the Big 8 and 6-12 overall.
Meanwhile, at Maple Valley, Quincy dropped their regular season finale to the Lions 5-2. The Orioles are now 1-10-2 overall, 1-5 in the Big 8.
Up Next:
Quincy will visit Grass Lake Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the opening round of the Division 3 Hillsdale District.
Bronson will host Maple Valley Thursday at 6 in the first round of the Division 4 Kalamazoo Christian District.
The Vikings beat Maple Valley 2-1 September 8 and the teams played to a 2-2 draw September 29.
