COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU) was honored for its achievements throughout the past year during the 2025 American Municipal Power (AMP) Annual Conference.
The CBPU received a Public Power Promotion Award, a Safety Commendation in the Transmission and Distribution category, and a Mutual Aid Commendation.
The Public Power Promotion Award was in recognition of the Monster Detectives Take Over Public Utilities Week (& Beyond) initiative. For this initiative, the utility used the Monster Detective Collective program from the American Public Power Association to promote public power in school classrooms during the month of October and beyond. Using the Monster Detectives as a vehicle to teach about public power, CBPU’s goal was to provide classroom connections and community engagement, empower future leaders, help with brand recognition and inform the students about all the utility services in their community.
The Safety Award in the Transmission & Distribution category is in recognition of less than one percent time loss due to reportable accidents. The Mutual Aid Commendation is in recognition for providing assistance to the Village of Montpelier, Ohio; and the cities of Greer, South Carolina; Lakeland, Florida; Sturgis, Michigan; and Tallahassee, Florida.
The AMP Annual Conference took place September 22-24 in Columbus. The organization’s premier event featured presentations and panel discussions by industry experts and speakers from AMP partner organizations.
