PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater delivered a total of 20 service aces as they powered past Battle Creek Central Monday night 25-6, 25-14, 25-9 in the first round of the MHSAA Division 1 Girls Volleyball District at Portage Central High School.
Mya Porter and Kinley Brown had 6 aces apiece to lead the team; Porter also contributed 7 digs. Brooklyn Closson had 5 aces to go with 3 kills, 3 digs, and 20 assists. Maren DeBeau had 2 aces, 2 kills, 4 assists, and a team-high 9 digs. Alyse Dally also contributed an ace. Aubrey Gebbink had 9 kills and 4 digs, Kaitlyn Senyk had 4 kills, and Marie Powers added 4 kills and 2 blocks. Adyson Qualls fiinished with 3 kills and 4 digs.

The Cardinals improved to 23-18-5 and will return to Portage Central to take on the host Mustangs Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the second District Semifinal contest of the night. Battle Creek Lakeview will face Sturgis in the first game Wednesday at 5 p.m. The winners will square off Friday at 5 p.m. for the District championship.
BRONSON, MI – The first night of the Division 3 District at Bronson proved to be a long evening for all four teams in action.
Centreville needed five sets to beat Homer in the opener, 26-24, 10-25, 15-25, 25-15, 18-16. In the nightcap, Union City eliminated Quincy in four sets, 25-20, 25-18, 14-25, 25-23. The Orioles’ season ended with a record of 21-12-5, while the Chargers improved to 24-18-2.
Centreville will face the host Bronson Vikings Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., followed by Union City against Galesburg-Augusta at 7 p.m., in the District Semifinals. The winners will play for the District title Thursday at 6 p.m.
LITCHFIELD, MI – Pansophia Academy’s season came to an end at the Division 4 Litchfield District, as the host Terriers defeated the Pumas 25-9, 25-17, 25-13.
