COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Even though the summer boating season is over, the Coldwater Lake Association has launched an effort to protect their lake for years to come.
The association says the “Keep Coldwater Clear” initiative aims to preserve the ecological, scenic, and recreational value of Coldwater Lake for current and future generations. They says protecting the lake and its watershed depends on all residents understanding water quality threats and taking action to reduce them.
They will host a live webinar Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. to explain the planned local protection efforts.
Topics to be covered include the present condition of Coldwater Lake’s water quality, the efforts the “Keep Coldwater Clear” initiative undertaking, and lake dwellers best practices for protecting water quality.
Guest speakers will be Margie Franker, the Chair of Coldwater Lake Environment Improvement Committee, Erick Elgin from Michigan State University Extension, and Julia Kirkwood from the Michigan Department. of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
