GIRARD TOWNSHIP, (WTVB) – Two people were injured in a collision between a car and deer Tuesday night in Branch County’s Girard Township.
According to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to an unknown injury accident East Union City Road near River Road around 7:40 p.m. They discovered a male driver from Union City had attempted to pass another vehicle when his vehicle struck a deer, causing him to lose control, resulting in the vehicle rolling onto it’s side.
A female passenger and a juvenile suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by LifeCare Ambulance personnel. The driver was not injured.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorist to use extra caution when driving in areas with dense deer populations especially during the hours just before and after sunrise and sunset, because those are the times deer are most active.
Since the beginning of October, Branch County has had more than 50 car deer accidents reported.
