COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Coldwater, after Coldwater Board of Public Utilities work crews spent the day Thursday decorating the downtown for the upcoming holiday season.
There will be no shortage of holiday spirit as the downtown will come alive with a variety of events beginning with Small Business Saturday November 29.
Downtown Coldwater is set to host a variety of festive activities for the 2025 Christmas season, with the central events clustered around the annual Hometown Holiday weekend and continuing throughout December.
Here is a look at some of the holiday events scheduled around the downtown and surrounding area.
- Hometown Holiday Weekend: December 5-6, 2025
The core of the holiday celebration centers around a weekend of activities designed to bring festive cheer to the downtown area. - Community Christmas Extravaganza: The 3rd Annual Community Christmas Extravaganza, presented by the Branch County Community Theatre, will take place on Friday, December 5 at the historic Tibbits Opera House. The evening will feature a variety of musical performances, skits, and harmonies from local groups like the CHS Balladiers and the Branch County Community Choir.
- The Wizards of Winter Performance: Saturday, December 6, the Tibbits Opera House will host The Wizards of Winter, a holiday progressive rock performance featuring former members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
- Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting: The annual Christmas Parade, with a “Winter Wonderland” theme for 2025, will travel through the downtown streets Saturday, December 6. The parade is generally accompanied by the “Lights of Love” Tree Lighting ceremony at Four Corners.
- Fresh Wreath Workshop: Attendees can get hands-on at a workshop on Saturday, December 6, to create their own fresh-cut holiday wreaths with expert guidance at Glo Studio, located at 67 West Chicago Street
- Christmas Express Train Rides: The Little River Railroad will host its Christmas Express train rides on various dates, including November 29, December 6, and December 13. These family-friendly, round-trip journeys to Quincy feature Santa Claus on board for photos and holiday wishes.
- Indoor Christmas Market: A new event for this year, an Indoor Christmas Market will be held at the Dr. Browne Recreation Center on Friday, December 12. The market will feature vendors for last-minute gifts, food trucks, a make-and-take craft station, and photos with Santa.
