BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Late night traffic stop landed two people into the Branch County Jail.
The Branch County Sherri’s Department says just before 12:30 a.m. Monday morning, deputies conducted a traffic stop in Batavia Township after observing a vehicle with an inoperable headlight, no license plate light, and failing to maintain its lane.
During the stop, the female passenger was identified and confirmed to have outstanding warrants for her arrest.
The Coldwater Police Department’s K9 unit assisted on the scene, and a free-air sniff around the vehicle resulted in a positive alert for narcotics.
A subsequent search yielded narcotics.
The male driver was taken into custody and lodged at the Branch County Jail on drug-related charges. The female passenger was also lodged at the Branch County Jail on her two outstanding warrants.
