COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Earlier this year the Coldwater City Council recently approved the purchase of two new vehicles specifically designated for the community’s School Resource Officers (SROs).
The vehicles selected were two 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrids, acquired for a total cost of slightly over $59,600, a purchase included in the current year’s budget.
These new “Resource-Mobiles” are intended for the daily use of the two SROs assigned to the Coldwater schools.
This week the new “Resource-Mobiles” were unveiled to the public for the first time in a Facebook post by Cole Ford in Coldwater.

Public Safety Director Joe Scheid said back when the vehicles were approved that the new Ford Mavericks are not pursuit-rated or designed for standard patrol operations, they are versatile enough for school-related duties, as well as use in parades and other special details when needed by general patrol staff.
The addition of these vehicles is part of an ongoing effort to ensure officer presence and enhance safety and public education opportunities within the community, particularly in and around school environments.
