COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Branch County as well as all of Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana, with hazardous conditions expected through the weekend.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting several inches of snow, wind, and potentially a mix of precipitation for some, creating a significant weather event.
Snow accumulations of 7 to 11 inches are possible all throughout the area, accompanied by strong winds at times. This combination of snow and wind is likely to produce blowing and drifting snow, severely reducing visibility and making travel conditions treacherous.

Anyone planning to travel are strongly advised to reconsider non-essential travel due to the high likelihood of difficult to impossible driving conditions.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is deploying crews but, changing conditions and the intensity of the storm pose significant challenges for keeping major routes like I-69 clear. The NWS explicitly cautions that those who must travel should have a winter survival kit and, if stranded, stay with their vehicle. Current road conditions can be monitored through the MDOT Mi Drive map or by calling 511.
