JONESVILLE, MI (WTVB) – A Somerset Center resident involved in a highly publicized September incident at Jonesville Elementary School has received her sentence.
37-year-old Stephanie Stidham appeared in Hillsdale County Circuit Court this week to face charges including fleeing and eluding police, assaulting an officer, operating under the influence of alcohol, and having an open container in her vehicle.
In October Stidham entered a plea of no contest to the charges against her.
The charges stemmed from a September 30, 2025 incident when school staff at Jonesville Elementary reported smelling alcohol on Stidham after she had picked up students.
Stidham attempted to evade police by driving across the schoolyard, a maneuver that was ultimately thwarted when her vehicle was blocked by a school bus.
Stidham was sentenced to nine months in jail, but received credit for the 62 days she has already served, and was also given two years of probation.
