LAGRANGE COUNTY,IN (WTVB) – A Tuesday collision on US20 near CR 1000 West in LaGrange County resulted in the deaths of two individuals from an Amish buggy.
The Indiana State Police (ISP) is currently investigating the incident, which occurred just after 3:00 p.m..
According to initial reports, a white 2019 Ford F550 dump truck, driven by 20-year-old Gael Reyes of Sturgis, drifted onto the eastbound shoulder where the buggy was traveling. The truck then struck the buggy.
The victims were identified by the LaGrange County Coroner’s Office as 75-year-old Marvin Shrock, and 74-year-old Ruby Shrock, of Shipshewana. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal crash at this time. The cause for the dump truck onto the shoulder remains unknown.
The Indiana State Police Critical Incident Reconstruction Team has taken over the investigation.
