QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – You will need to hang on to your ice skates just a bit longer.
The opening of the Quincy community ice rink has been temporarily postponed after the street department discovered tears in the rink’s liner.
The damage, combined with less-than-ideal temperatures, has prevented the water from fully freezing.
The Quincy Street Department, which is handling the maintenance, checked the ice after installation and found that the current conditions are not suitable for public skating.
City officials say that the immediate priority is to patch the liner issues, and once the tears are patched up and some colder temps, everyone will be able to enjoy the ice rink.
A specific opening date has not been announced, as the timeline depends on both the repair work and the arrival of consistent cold weather needed for the ice to set properly.
