COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Parma Western turned a close girls basketball contest against Coldwater into a a rout in the third quarter. The defending Interstate 8 champion Panthers outscored the Cardinals 19-3 in that stanza on their way to a 60-46 victory at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Coldwater enjoyed a 13-12 first quarter advantage before the Panthers battled back to tie the game at halftime 29-29. The Lady Cards outscored Western 14-12 in the final stanza.
Mya Porter led Coldwater with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. Audi Bucklin added 10 points and 3 boards, while Coley Burkhardt had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
Rayah Hitt led all scorers with 27 points for Western, while Aubree Allen added 20 points and tied the school record for most rebounds in a game with 26, as the Panthers improved to 2-1 overall, 2-0 in the Interstate 8.
The Cardinals fell to 1-2 overall, 1-1 in the Interstate 8, and will travel to Jackson Northwest on Thursday.
