COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As of this afternoon, Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien so far is the only candidate to toss his hat into the ring to replace the outgoing Bill O’Grady as Branch County Circuit Court Judge. For Stempien. he says the decision to seek the soon-to-be-vacant judgeship was a fairly easy one.
Stempien describes the process:
He says the appointment probably wouldn’t be made until late January or early February. There are a number of possibilities to keep the court cases moving until the position is filled by the governor, including visiting judges from surrounding counties or having Judge Weigel or Judge Kashian hear cases in Circuit Court.
