QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy Community Schools employee has been placed on administrative leave following an off-duty misconduct investigation that prompted a law enforcement presence in district buildings Wednesday.
The law enforcement activity was reportedly unrelated to school operations but implicated an employee’s conduct outside of work hours.
The district made parents aware of the situation via an email. “The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority, and we take this responsibility very seriously,” the statement read.
“Quincy Community Schools is cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities in the ongoing criminal investigation. Concurrently, the district will conduct its own internal review into the allegations. Due to the sensitive and ongoing nature of the matter, specific details regarding the employee’s identity or the nature of the allegations cannot be shared at this time.”
Officials stressed that student safety remains the top priority in all decisions made by the administration.
It’s unclear if or how the school investigation is connected to the arrest of a Quincy Reserve Police Officer by Michigan State Police Wednesday.
Quincy Police Chief Dalton Turmell released a statement saying there are limited details available, but it was an isolated incident and there is no harm to the public.
Turmell says more information will be released by the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office.
