BLACKMON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal basketball teams brought back mixed results from their road trip to Jackson Northwest Thursday night.
GIRLS: Coldwater 53, Northwest 32
Mya Porter led all scorers with 20 points as the Lady Cardinals prevailed over the Mounties 53-32. Porter added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals, while Audi Bucklin had a team-high 6 rebounds. Coldwater led 12-3 after one, 26-13 at halftime, and 36-22 after three as they improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the Interstate 8.
The Mounties won the JV contest 49-6.

BOYS: Northwest 65, Coldwater 58
Northwest used a 17-9 fourth quarter to turn what was a close game into a seven-point victory, 65-58. Coldwater led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter, but a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Markese Williams gave the Mounties a one-point halftime edge, 33-32. The Cardinals led 49-48 after three before Northwest pulled away in the end.
Dayton Ennis had 10 points off the bench to lead Coldwater. Owen Tappenden and Gavin Taylor each scored 9, with Tappenden adding 5 rebounds.
The Cardinals fell to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the Interstate 8.

Both Cardinal varsity teams will be at the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament in Grand Rapids. The girls will face DeWitt Friday night, with coverage on WTVB starting at 6:45 p.m. The boys will take on Zeeland East Saturday afternoon, with our coverage starting at 2:15 p.m.
