Elaine Ann Woodcox, 90, of Bronson, MI, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025 in Union City, Michigan.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Siler officiating at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Visitation will be held that afternoon from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A burial of ashes will be held at a later date at Bronson Cemetery.
Elaine was born July 7, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Carl and Ervine (Korponnay) Schuster. At the age of 13, she moved with her family to India, where she attended and graduated from the Kodaikanal School, an experience that shaped her lifelong appreciation for culture, learning, and faith.
June 22, 1957, Elaine married the love of her life, Martin Woodcox, in Garrett, Indiana. Martin preceded her in death April 21, 1992 after nearly 35 years of marriage.
Elaine dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a kindergarten teacher, later served as secretary at the First United Methodist Church in Bronson, and was a proud homemaker. She was a devoted member of both the First United Methodist Church and the Congregational Church in Bronson. At the First United Methodist Church, she faithfully served as a choir member and was active in the Bronson United Methodist Women and a member of the Bronson Women’s Club.
Elaine enjoyed staying active in the community and was a member of several local golf and bowling leagues. She generously gave her time volunteering with Friends of the Library, Coldwater Hospital, and the Bronson Food Pantry.
A talented seamstress and knitter, she lovingly created many handmade items for family and friends over the years. Above all else, Elaine cherished and adored her family. Her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A life well lived, Elaine’s legacy of faith, service, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and community forever.
Elaine leaves behind her children Alan (Sally) Woodcox of Grandville, MI, Betsy (Cary) Crabill of Bronson, MI, Jennifer (Bob) Hopp of Clare, MI; her brother-in-law JD Espie of Mulberry, FL; her grandchildren Tim (Jill) Woodcox, Lindsey (Chris) Remley, Caitlin (Aaron) Casnave, Lexie (Dillon) DeCair, Alison (Will) Aldrich; her great grandchildren Trenton, Brayden, Brynlee, Braxton Woodcox, Addy, Bronson Remley, Kyla, AJ Casnave, Oaklynn DeCair, Callyn Aldrich; and her many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Martin Woodcox, Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Carol Espie.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Bronson First United Methodist Church or to the Congregational Church in Bronson.
