ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – One individual was arrested in Steuben County Wednesday morning following a high-speed pursuit with an Indiana State Police Trooper.
The incident began just before 9:30 a.m. when a trooper observed a dark-colored Dodge Charger traveling 105 mph on Interstate 69.
When the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, identified as 21-yea r-old Dakota Carter, of Fort Wayne, failed to yield and continued northbound. Carter attempted to exit the interstate but lost control, and the vehicle left the roadway and became stuck in a creek.
Carter was taken into custody without incident, and no injuries were reported.
Further investigation revealed a handgun was thrown from the vehicle and was recovered from the creek by the Indiana State Police Underwater Search and Rescue Team.
Carter was arrested and faces charges including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, criminal recklessness with a vehicle while in possession of a handgun, possession of marijuana, and operating while intoxicated (controlled substance).
