COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – 44-year-old Ryan Lee Shortridge of Quincy was arraigned Monday in Branch County District Court following a Michigan State Police investigation into the distribution and possession of child sexually abusive material.
The investigation began after detectives received multiple cybertips from the messaging application KIK, which police say linked Shortridge’s email address and residence to the uploading of graphic videos involving prepubescent children.
Shortridge faces seven felony counts, including aggravated child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime, and tampering with evidence.
During the court proceedings before Judge Brent R. Weigle, bond was set at $200,000 cash or surety with several strict conditions. Shortridge is prohibited from having any contact with minor children and is barred from accessing the internet.
While he is permitted to work at his company’s headquarters in Indiana, he is strictly forbidden from traveling outside of that specific location.
The most serious charge against him carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
