COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater forced 22 Pennfield turnovers, outscored the Panthers 29-13 in the second half, and sank eight 3-pointers on their way to a 56-32 girls basketball victory at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium. The Cardinals led 14-6 after one and 27-19 at halftime. They proceeded to put the game out of reach with a 14-5 third quarter and a 15-8 final stanza.
Coley Burkhardt led the way with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, to go with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Mya Porter scored 9 points on three triples and added 4 boards, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Audi Bucklin also tallied 9 points and 3 rebounds; she and Addi Bucklin had the other 3-pointers.
Freshman Haydyn TenBrink had a team-high 11 points for Pennfield, who fell to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the Interstate 8.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 4-4 overall, 3-1 in the Interstate 8. They return to action Wednesday night at Kalamazoo Central.
