COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Local families are sharpening their design skills for the return of one of Branch County’s most anticipated winter traditions. The City of Coldwater has announced a free Cardboard Sled Building Workshop this Saturday, January 11, 2026, to help residents prepare for the upcoming Winterfest races.
The hands-on workshop will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. Hosted through a partnership between the Kiwanis Club of Coldwater and Marshall Community Credit Union, the event provides participants with materials, guidance, and inspiration to create functional racing vessels using only cardboard, tape, and glue.
While the workshop is free, advance sign-up is required via the Coldwater Recreation Department https://coldwater.recdesk.com/Community/Calendar
The workshop serves as the primary warm-up for the Winterfest Cardboard Sled Races, scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Heritage Park.
The races will take place on Kiwanis Hill.
