Shelba Darene Sargent, 85, of Quincy went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, January 5, 2026.
A memorial service for Darene Sargent will take place Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Mark Case officiating. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
She was born September 14, 1940 in Yoe, Pennsylvania, to Allen and Miriam (Stump) Henry. She married Robert Sargent September 20, 1991 and he preceded her in death August 30, 2005.
Darene graduated from Camelback High School in Arizona in 1958 and went on to obtain her associate degree from Phoenix Community College. She worked as an executive administrative assistant for several companies including The Greyhound Corporation, Watson Trading Company, and retired after 25 years with the Community Health Center of Branch County.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 45 years. Following retirement, Darene kept active by volunteering at the Community Health Center, Tibbits Opera House, and Beginnings Care for Life.
She was known for her kind heart and big smile and never missed her grandchildren’s dance recitals, sporting events, and 4-H projects. Later, as they grew into adulthood, she loved vacationing with them and celebrating all of their achievements and successes.
Darene adored her family immensely, and enjoyed reading, traveling, feeding her birds, especially hummingbirds (naming the road she lived on “Hummingbird Lane”), was a big Michigan fan, and loved her cat, Daisy.
Darene is survived by four children, Duane (Hope) Sellers, Darla (Roy) Pohl, Tamera Cohen, and Patrick (Barb) Sargent; grandchildren Travis (Codie Perkins) Sellers, Ashleigh Sellers, Bailey (Ryan) Dugan, Halle (Dani Degner) Pohl, Caitlin (Ryan) Lewis, Spencer (Shelby Atwood) Cohen, Dillon Reese, Tia (Patrick) Weaver, Kayla (Chancey) Slack, Kyle (Adrian) Sargent, Chaz (Veanna) Sargent, Sara (Justin) Bowers; great grandchildren Anneliese, Ethan, Liam, Delilah, Tailee, Mason, Aleah, Blaine, Vince, Colton, Mason, Colvin, Hazel, Emryk, Violet, and Ezra; one brother Daryl (Donna) Henry; sisters-in-law Darlene Sargent and Pamela Douglas; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Bob, and her parents.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Branch County Humane Society or Beginnings Care for Life. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home in Quincy.
