Richard T. Springhall, 86, of Coldwater passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Insight Hospital and Medical Center Coldwater.
A service will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater officiated by Pastor Harold Jewell.
A visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Interment will take place following the service at Knauss Cemetery.
Richard was born October 29, 1939 to John and Mabel (Hill) Springhall in Ann Arbor, MI. He married Virginia Myers November 22, 1958, in Fulton, MI.
Richard worked for the CBPU Power Plant, where he worked as a switchboard operator and turbine generator operator for 25 years until his retirement in 2001.
Outside of his career, Richard was a true craftsman at heart. He found great joy in woodworking, painting ceramics and concrete, and gardening, often transforming simple materials into something useful or beautiful. A natural handyman, Richard was always willing to lend his skills to projects large and small, never hesitating to help others. He also enjoyed traveling, appreciating new places and experiences along the way.
Richard is survived by his wife, Virginia Springhall of Coldwater; his children Pamela (Lloyd) Barrows of Coldwater, Laurie Swanson of Coldwater, John (Judi) Springhall of Coldwater; his siblings Mike Selders, David Selders, and Sally Horrigan; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Becky Springhall; brother Pat Selders; and son in law Jeffrey Swanson.
