COLDWATYER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Legg Middle School Polar Bears swim team fell short Monday night in a tough-fought dual meet against Marshall, but not before delivering several strong individual performances and sweeping both girls’ relay events.
Aubrey Eberts continued her season by qualifying for the state meet in the 200 freestyle and placing first in the 50 freestyle. Emerson Wright earned second place in the 100 IM and added a third place finish in the 50 butterfly.
Leah Senyk had an outstanding meet, capturing first place in the 50 freestyle and second place in the 100 backstroke, while Mila Santamaria placed second in the 100 freestyle and first in the 100 breaststroke, Sara Martinez-Hernandez finished fourth in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 50 butterfly, and Natalie Holroyd earned fourth place in the 50 freestyle and third place in the 100 backstroke.
On the boys’ side, Jonah Weber dominated the breaststroke, winning first place in the 100 breaststroke, while also finishing second in the 50 freestyle.
Griffin Lanning had a strong showing, earning personal bests and taking first place in the 100 freestyle and second place in the 50 freestyle.
The Polar Bears also won relay events, taking both the girls 200 Medley Relay and the girls 200 Freestyle Relay, earning valuable team points.
The Polar Bears will continue their season Wednesday at Harper Creek.
