QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Five new members of the Quincy High School Athletic Hall of Fame were formally inducted on Friday night during halftime of the Union City-Quincy varsity girls basketball game at the Coolest Gym in Michigan.
The new inductees are:
Emily Hollenbaugh Burk from the Class of 2020. She is considered to be one of the school’s best all-around athletes. She excelled in track and field, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Her athletic career was shortened in the spring of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
William Dunn from the Class of 2020. Dunn is one of the most honored basketball players in the history of Quincy Athletics. He played on four straight Big Eight Conference Championship teams and was also a member of a District title squad in 2017. The 2019-2020 Quincy squad had a record of 18-3 and was scheduled to play 17-4 Centreville in the MHSAA District finals on the Orioles home court. But the tournament was suspended by the MHSAA a day before the game was going to be played due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it was never played.
Nathan Karney from the Class of 2017. Karney is credited with displaying great leadership skills in both football and basketball during his stellar career at Quincy High School. He was named a BCAM First Team All-State member in 2017. Karney was named to Big 8 All-Conference First Teams in both football and basketball.
Shannon Bair Lemke from the Class of 1996. Lemke reaped many rewards throughout her high school career as a distance runner and cross-country athlete. She earned two medals at the MHSAA Track Finals in the 3200 relay and was a Big 8 Conference champion in both the mile run and two mile relay. She was also a Big 8 Conference cross country individual champion.
Cody McClellan from the Class of 2010. McClellan earned 11 varsity letters while competing in football, wrestling and track. He earned Big 8 All-Conference honors in both football and wrestling.
This is the 23rd year for the Quincy Hall of Fame which has honored over 100 individual athletes and several teams over the years.
