We are heart broken to share that our beloved mother, Margie Converse, 76, of Edon, Ohio has passed away after a swift battle with lung cancer. She died at home surrounded by family and loved ones January 20, 2026.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading. A light reception will follow at the Reading American Legion Hall.
Private family interment will take place at Allen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, January 23 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Margie was predeceased by her parents, Vivian and Perry Handy, her husband George Converse, Jr and his parents George and Wynonia Converse, her sisters-in-law Carol Winter and Mary Hicks, brothers-in-law Dean Hicks, Jerry Converse, and David Proctor, and her great grandson Everett Lehman.
She is survived by her daughters Michele Converse (Brian Paeth) of Burke, Virginia, Nichole Humphrey (Scott Humphrey) of Glencoe, Illinois, and Georgia Converse of Reading, Michigan, as well as special granddaughter, India Converse (Bryan Lehman) of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Marge has four other grandchildren: Cain Humphrey, Jordan Humphrey, Arabella Paeth, and Emmaline Paeth; and two great grandchildren: Barak Lehman and Cyrus Lehman.
Margie is also survived by ten brothers and sisters: Nelson (Marge) Handy, Linda (Jim) VanPelt, Penny (Ned) Rogers, David Handy (Sandy Daley), Terry (Sue) Handy, Phillip (Georgia) Handy, Phyllis (David) Brott, Patrick (Kathy) Handy, Cheri (Lyle) Calvin, and Mary Sue Handy; and four brothers and sisters-in-law: Carl (Donna) Converse, Judy (Allan) Fenstermaker, Larry (Elaine) Converse, and Bonnie Proctor; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
