COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors decided to keep the same officers as they met for the first time in 2026 Wednesday morning.
Michael Caywood will serve another term as the board President while Courtney Dirschell will continue serving as the Vice President.
Caywood has been the DDA President since 2023 and has been on the board since October 2018. Dirschell has been a board member since August of 2019 and has served as the V.P. since 2024.
Under the revised by laws being proposed by Main Street Director Kristen Johnson, officer terms would start and end in October, which would coincide with the start of board member terms.
In the past, officer terms started in January. Johnson said in her proposal, “This change would eliminate future issues with a board member’s term ending three months before new elections take place and would also provide continuity for me as a new Director by allowing Mike Caywood to stay on as President through September 2026 (when his term ends).”
Johnson also wants the Board to reevaluate the DDA’s Mission Statement. She thinks it should be both meaningful and concise, “so that staff, board, and volunteers can easily remember and repeat the mission when talking to key stakeholders.”
A committee consisting of three board members was formed to look further into Johnson’s recommendations.
